A new year arrives with its own set of dreams and aspirations. There is no denying that while all of this is tempting, it somehow also pushes us to expect too much from our own selves. Pointing out the relevance of keeping your goals realistic, a team of 500 HealthifyMe nutritionists have proposed 20 tips for healthy health during the new year.
If you want your next year to be about health and fitness, here’s what you need to do.
* While the Internet can give you a lot of information about diets and exercise, it may not work for you. It is important to read between the lines and consult nutritionists on the ground.
* Sleep for seven hours: Most healthy adults need between seven and nine hours to sleep to work to the fullest.
* Stay away from the screen: Excess screen time negatively affects our posture and even mood.
* Focus on losing inches / fat: Instead of losing weight, focus on losing inches and losing “fat” from your body.

* Water consumption: drink at least three liters of water every day.
* Conscious eating: The basics of conscious eating are to avoid compulsive eating, eat slowly and listen to the physical indications of hunger.
* Realistic health goals: Setting realistic, time-limited goals work better than long-term or extremely ambitious goals.
* Positive body image: Working towards a healthy lifestyle also means changing negative perceptions about your current body appearance. Meditation and having positive affirmations are the key to building a positive body image of oneself.
* Stop comparing: each person’s fitness levels, metabolism, and nutritional needs are different. Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on achieving your own goals.
* Stop following fad diets: Fad diets, especially low-calorie diets, are unsustainable and we need to stop falling into them. Most dieters tend to gain weight once they stop following fad diets.
* Reduce processed foods: Reducing the consumption of processed foods can lead to higher energy levels and better health.

* Get a blood report once a year: Keep track of your fitness regularly.
* Be in constant contact with nature: walk, go for a walk, do a marathon. These are some of the best ways to stay fit.
* Focus on quality family time: It ensures you are at peace with yourself and will keep you mentally fit.
* Focus on endurance, strength and energy levels.
* Track your calories: You can use a diary or monitor it on your mobile phone using health apps that also give you detailed information about the calorie count of each food you eat.
* Prioritize your goals: Start with easy-to-achieve physical and dietary goals to harder goals.
* Use rewards wisely – Reward yourself to achieve your goals physically, but don’t overdo it.
* Eat more often at home: Home-cooked foods are fresher and more nutritious, as well as ensuring you reduce unnecessary ingredients that can be harmful or add to your calorie count.
* Don’t stress. Make fitness a fun process: Train your mind to see your fitness regime as a fun activity. It will make sure you stay there longer.
