Publications falsely claim that a Tennessee nurse died after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine

As the COVID-19 vaccine is distributed to front-line health workers across the country, misleading publications about the vaccine are on the rise.

A post that has gone viral on social media claims that a Tennessee nurse died shortly after the vaccine.

It is not true

After reviewing this topic, we found some issues: Not true.

The nurse fainted after receiving the shot, she confirmed during an interview with WRCB TV, but said it was due to her medical condition, not the vaccine.

“I have a history of having an overly reactive vagal response, so if I have pain from something, a fingernail or a toe, I can only pass it on,” nurse Tiffany Dover told WRCB.

Chattanooga Hospital, CHI Memorial, issued a press release to provide more details about the disease.

While fainting after receiving a vaccine is rare, the CDC claims it has already happened with vaccines.

According to the website, approximately 3% of men and 3.5% of women have reported fainting at least once in their lifetime. But fainting has no lasting effects.

“The fainting episode is not an adverse reaction to the vaccine, but is related to its condition,” said Dr. Jesse L. Tucker, a critical care physician at Memorial CHI.

On Monday, the hospital released a video of Dover at work with his teammates.
