Multiple routes leading to and from Sector 18, the Noida shopping center, which attracts a large number of visitors on New Year’s Eve, will remain diverted from 4pm on Tuesday until 2am. Wednesday morning, Noida traffic police said.
The Kalindi Kunj road connecting Noida and Delhi will remain off-limits for commuters for a 17th day in a row, traffic police said on Monday.
Security has been reduced in the area and police have strongly warned people of drunk driving at a council for New Year’s Eve.
Sector 18, the city’s largest shopping center, is home to hundreds of shops and a plethora of restaurants that are witnessed by thousands of visitors on 31 December.
Some stretches near Sector 18 subway station have become “parking areas” and police have asked people to avoid violating the law, according to the adviser.
Police have also asked people to make use of multi-level parking in Sector 18 instead of leaving cars on the roads.
“A breath analyzer test will be conducted and a penalty will be imposed on those who drive vehicles after consuming more than 30 milligrams of alcohol,” traffic police said.
