An Israeli pharmacist is actually protected against COVID-19, after being accidentally injected with four doses of the Pfizer shot, according to a report.
Uday Azizi, a pharmacist at Maccabi Healthcare Services, said he felt fine after being sent to a hospital to be checked because he received the additional amounts by mistake, the Times of Israel reported.
The health worker who administered the puncture apparently did not realize that each vial of Pfizer contains several doses, usually five, but sometimes even more, depending on the medium.
Azizi said so far he has only experienced mild and common side effects: local pain and some redness at the injection site.
“I have no problem getting four doses back,” he said. “Let’s be optimistic … about the vaccine, the whole situation and the new year maybe.”
The pharmacist said he will probably still have to receive the second dose of the vaccine in three weeks, and encouraged others not to be afraid of inoculation.
