2021 is finally over.
But the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce is pushing all the limits to end this difficult year.
The chamber is collaborating with the Argyle Theater and various local talents to hold a New Year’s Eve celebration show in 2021.
Kelly Peckholdt, president of the chamber, said the showcase will be the Babylon version of a live “Rockin ‘Eve of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve,” featuring prominent musical guests, comedians, interviews with village officials and more surprises.
The show is free for the public. All you have to do is visit the camera’s Facebook page to watch the live stream. The show will last about 90 minutes. The exact start time is yet to be determined, but organizers want to start around 10:30 p.m. Check for updates on Facebook.
The live broadcast can also be viewed on the Chamber’s website.

The idea for the event, the local host passing through Roman, will be holding the event alongside Brandon Levone.
Talent training includes Krisi Ardito, DJ Ello, Don’t Believe In Ghosts, The Zigons, Nick Tangorra, Labelle, John aka Fudge the Comedian and Roman.
This is not the first time that Roman has organized an important event for the people: during the summer, the natives of Babylon overcome the first parade of pride of the center.
Peckholdt said Rome approached her with the idea and that it has been instrumental in preparing for this event.
He describes the event as a fun way for the community to sound the new year together from home.
“The city needed an uplifting moment,” he told GreaterBabylon. “To share this special holiday with each other through virtual, we wanted to offer an entertainment show to which the people of Babylon felt connected.”
Reflecting on this year and the importance of this event, Peckholdt said the chamber has learned to adapt and be creative, especially with community-oriented virtual events.
It’s been a year of completely reinventing the regular schedule of chamber events, he said.
“It was such a unique and fun thing,” he said of New Year’s Eve. “In a regular year it could be a difficult time for some people, so it’s great that we can bring holiday spirit to people and look forward to the new year.”
Roman said the event shows the village moving forward doing something that had never been done on the island.
“This city is not where to sleep,” they said. “We are full of energy, we have a dynamic variety of people and the show we have created shows it to us. The real star of this New Year is Babylon.
