Sonia Guzmán presents style letters in the United States as a DR ambassador

Sonia Guzmán presented her credentials to the State Department in Washington, the capital of the United States, to serve as the new ambassador of the Dominican Republic to that country.

Guzmán has become the first woman to hold this office and expressed his pride through a post on Twitter this Wednesday morning.

“Yesterday I presented the style letters to the State Department in Washington,” the Dominican representative’s tweet to the United States begins.

The ambassador added that she was proud to represent Dominicans, as well as the government of President Lluís Abinader.

Sonia Guzmán was announced on July 27 by President Abinader as ambassador to the United States, when the Head of State had not yet assumed power.

In addition to being the first woman to head this delegation, Sonia Guzmán was already the first woman to hold the Monetary Board in the country.

During the government of Hipólito Mejía, Guzmán was the Secretary of State of Industry and Commerce, as well as it directed the equipment that negotiated in free trade treaty DR-CAFTA.

The new Dominican ambassador to the United States is the daughter of former President Antonio Guzmán Fernández, who ruled the country from 1978 to 1982.
