A Fort Bragg soldier fatally shot his pregnant wife, who was due to expire on Christmas Day, before turning the gun on Sunday night, according to reports.
Staff Sergeant. Keith Lewis, 31, allegedly carried out the deadly shootings while the 3-year-old couple’s daughter was with them at her home in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the Army Times reported.
Keith Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Sarah Lewis, 34, was taken to hospital, but she and her unborn son could not be rescued.
“It simply came to our notice then. It’s like a horror movie, ”Sarah’s aunt Tammy De Mirza told WRAL.
“She was lively and funny, cheerful and carefree and really had the heart to serve,” her aunt told the news channel.
Sarah was to have her fourth child, and the second with Keith, her second husband, according to the report.
The mother was also a member of the military until she had her first baby, family members told WRAL.
Police in 2016 had responded to the Lewises’ home for a national dispute call, but no charges were filed, observer Fayetteville reported.
