Two-point hospital (switch)Two-point hospital (switch)

Editor: SEGA / Developer: Two Point Studios

Date of publication: February 25, 2020 (USA) / February 25, 2020 (United Kingdom / EU)

It only sneaks into the top ten thanks to the very enthusiastic voting of two team members, Two-point hospital is one of this year’s Switch games that we had the most fun with. It’s a great port that loses nothing in the transition to Nintendo’s console and captures the crazy spirit of Bullfrog Thematic hospital. Other games made us reflect on the existential abyss in the style of Werner Herzog or cry while we made a deeply emotional journey: Two Point Hospital gave us a very fun plan of pure comedy and fun.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (Switch)Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (Switch)

Editor: Nintendo / Developer: Koei Tecmo

Date of publication: November 20, 2020 (USA) / November 20, 2020 (United Kingdom / EU)

In a year in which we are eager to escape to a realm full of wonder and natural beauty too channel our helpless rage into giving the hordes of few advantages a beating with the Master Sword, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity he managed to hit two birds with one stone. It may stumble in terms of performance, but that has never stopped us from enjoying this Zelda title with a prequel / secondary story and its mix of Warriors of the dynasty piracy action with the characters and the realm of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. A satisfying and irresistible snack while we wait for the full sequel to Breath of the Wild, of which we hope to know more next year.

A short walk (Switch eShop)A short walk (Switch eShop)

Editor: Whippoorwill / Developer: Adam Robinson-Yu

Date of publication: August 18, 2020 (USA) / August 18, 2020 (United Kingdom / EU)

A short excursion it offered us a brief break from all the rest of our important pending work. Combining the charm of one No animals with the exploratory spirit of a bite size Breath of the Wild (not to mention a 32-bit nostalgic portion with its visual style), there was still a lot to do after climbing the mountain, but developer Adam Robinson-Yu produced a mini masterpiece that felt good and that the right time has come. One of the best independent games of the year, or any year, and it fully deserves the 10/10 we gave it.

Super Mario Bros. 35 (Switch eShop)Super Mario Bros. 35 (Switch eShop)

Editor: Nintendo / Developer: Nintendo

Date of publication: October 1, 2020 (USA) / October 1, 2020 (United Kingdom / EU)

“Is it like that Tetris 99, but with Mario “.

We imagine the playing field for Super Mario Bros. 35 it was brief, but the fact that everything is so good belies the complexity of the design and the thought that this online multiplayer has had assumes the grandfather of platform games. For Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, Super Mario Bros. 35 is a timely and appropriate tribute to the plumber’s legacy. The worst we can say is that we are disappointed that Nintendo plans to open servers on March 31, 2021 (presumably to make way for “The Legend of Zelda 35” or something). Again, perhaps, his transience makes us savor even more …

I was just kidding. Leave it that way, Nintendo. You know it makes sense.

Ori and the will of the ingenuity (Switch eShop)Ori and the will of the ingenuity (Switch eShop)

Editor: iam8bit / Developer: Moon Studios

Date of publication: September 17, 2020 (USA) / September 17, 2020 (United Kingdom / EU)

Our hearts may belong to Nintendo, but we are avid fans of video games regardless of their home platforms and while we loved it Ori and the will of the warnings in XBox One, the chances that your Switch predecessor would follow seemed extremely unlikely to us. 2roid Metroidvanias could be ten bucks on Switch, but this one does things on a technical level that puts it seemingly out of reach of Switch’s relatively modest specs.

And yet it came. Moon Studios went further to get this to work at 60 fps on the Nintendo console, and the fact that it doesn’t look like a truncated or compromised version at the slightest testament to the developer’s ability and desire to reach a public as numerous as possible. with this magnificent game. Play it.
