COVID 19 Chicago: O’Hare Bulls with Holiday Travelers Before Christmas 2020 Despite Coronavirus Pandemic

CHICAGO (WLS): Thursday looks like another crowded day at O’Hare Airport, as last-minute travelers catch their flights just in time to reach their destination for the Christmas holidays.

But, here’s a little perspective.

Between Sunday and Tuesday this week, approximately three million people were screened by TSA nationwide. There are a lot of people, but last year that number was almost seven million on those same dates. It is a drastic reduction as most people choose to stay on holiday or travel by car.

The top doctor in the state, Ngozi Ezike, warns people not to travel and spend the holidays only with those at home, but at the same time acknowledges the fact that many people do not listen.

“I know some of you won’t or won’t be able to. And for those of you I’m asking you to think about additional security measures you can take while you’re traveling, while you’re meeting, that can make visits a little safer,” he said. dir Ezike.

If you are traveling, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends:
1. Consider testing between one and three days before departure.
2. Get the flu shot before you get it

3. Check travel restrictions before you leave.
4. Bring additional supplies such as masks and hand sanitizer.
5. Know when to delay the trip. Do not travel if you or your fellow travelers are ill.
6. Keep your distance from others as much as possible and keep your nose and mouth covered at all times while in public environments within crowded transportation options.
