It’s been a week since North Carolina residents received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The state provides data, giving us a better idea of who received the shots.
Across the state, more than 24,500 people have received the first dose of vaccine with more than 3,700 here in Wake County, another 2,400 in Durham and 1,500 in Cumberland.

While the state site allows users to analyze data at the county level, Bloomberg vaccine tracking provides a national and global look.
The data show, nationally, that North Carolina is adapting quite well to the rest of the states.
Although a fairly small percentage of residents (.23%) have received the dose, it is at the same level as many states, including residents of Tennessee and South Carolina.
States with smaller populations, such as Alaska and North Dakota, have the highest rates, but it’s important to remember that they have smaller populations. They have administered far fewer doses than here in North Carolina.
The Bloomberg tracker shows that North Carolina ranks 11th for the number of admins.
According to the state website, they will update their vaccine data weekly. As more doses and data become available, the Bloomberg crawler will also be updated.
