Window glass crashes from the 53rd floor of Midtown, Manhattan, New York

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) – Thursday night, a glass panel fell on West 58th Street in Manhattan.

The New York Department of Buildings says it fell from the 53rd floor of a tall Billionaire’s Row building around 5 p.m.

Investigators say the 11-foot-by-2-foot window section had been previously damaged before it fell.

Site contractors planned to replace the window board.

Fortunately no one was on the ground where the glass fell and no injuries were reported.

Officials are still deciding whether to issue appointments.
