Global cases of covid-19 officially reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) have reached 78.2 million today, meaning that more than 1% of the world’s population has been infected with the new coronavirus in a matter of a year.
The new cases reported to the Organization on Christmas Day were 655,000, according to its count.
Accumulated deaths per covid have reached 1,740,000, with about 11,600 recorded by all countries in the last 24 hours.
America currently reports 33.9 million cases, Europe 24.9 million; and South Asia, 11.8 million; in an evolution in which the bulk of pollution is concentrated on the first two continents.
In terms of daily trends, Brazil has taken a leap by recording nearly 47,000 cases in one day, surpassing the United Kingdom again, which ranks third for infections in 24 hours, which have been nearly 40,000 there.
The United States continues to set highs and has reported 221,000 daily positive test cases for coronavirus.
In this same category it is observed that the pandemic is advancing rapidly in Russia and Germany (29,000 and 23,000 daily, respectively), while it seems to diminish in India with 23,000 cases, EFE
