Authorities are investigating another aircraft carrier in the Los Angeles area. Sling Pilot Academy, a Torrance-based flight school, posted images on Instagram of the possible jet pack seen off the coast of the Palos Verdes peninsula, CBS Los Angeles reports.
“Video made by Pilot Sling Academy flight instructor while flying at approximately 3,000’ near Palos Verdes, south of Los Angeles, ”the title says. “Catalina Island is in the background. The video seems to show a jet-pack, but it can also be a drone or some other object. If it’s a ‘jet-pack boy’, we’ll have to see if it is a legal test flight (the aircraft packages are real; there is a manufacturer near Los Angeles) or related to the recent aircraft package sightings near LAX that have caused air traffic disruptions. “
An FBI official told the LA Times, “We are aware of this and continue to investigate the reports.”
According to the Times, the observation came on Monday.
This is the third alleged jet pack sighting in recent months. On October 14, a flight crew aboard a China Airlines flight detected what appeared to be one person flying a jet pack while going down to LAX.
The FAA is too investigating a sighting on August 30 in the Cudahy and South Gate areas.
“The FAA has taken the observation reports it has received seriously and has worked closely with the FBI to investigate them,” the agency said in a statement to the Times. “However, the FAA has not been able to validate the reports.”
