The transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United in 2003, was considered the best in history in the Premier League
Cristiano Ronaldo was chosen as the best signing in the Premier League according to Sky Sports. The Portuguese player, who currently plays for Juventus, stood out for his move to Manchester United and for what he has achieved in his career.
According to experts from Transfer Show, one of the popular TV shows, CR7 was one of four Manchester United players to appear in the top-10 on the list, as the other three were Eric Cantona, Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney.
The Red Devils signed the Portuguese player from Sporting Lisbon in August 2003 for £ 12 million at the time. Cristiano spent six years at Old Trafford where he won eight titles, including three Premier League titles and one Champions League.
In the rest of his career, the Portuguese has scored more than 750 goals and 30 trophies with clubs, as well as five Golden Balls and twice was chosen the best player in FIFA.
“When they signed him, I thought he was one more signing for United,” Sky Sports News presenter Tom White said. “From now on, don’t listen to a word of what you say.”
Second place went to Thierry Henry, who played for Arsenal. He was signed in 1999 for £ 11 million and spent eight years with the Gunners giving cheers at Highbury Stadium. He won two titles and broke the club goals record.
For his part, Sergio Agüero, who gave the title to Manchester City in 2012 with a shout-out goal, is 19th on the list. “I have a beautiful wife and our wedding day was spectacular,” said Mike Wedderburn, presenter of Skye Sports News. “Seeing my daughter born was a miracle, but when Agüero scored, it was the best day of my life.”
