Seven displaced by house fire in San Diego’s Mountain View neighborhood

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Seven people were displaced after a fire in Mountain View Saturday morning, San Diego Fire-Rescue reports.

The fire was reported shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Teak Street, near Ocean View Boulevard. Teams responded quickly and managed to control the fire. The house that burned down sits down a lot, with a second house in front and the house in front was not damaged.

The family and residents of the front house said they believed the fire started from a washer / dryer. They also said they had to pull the bars out of a window to help people escape, with the outside throwing and the inside kicking the bars. Four people were injured after climbing through the broken window.

Crews say a total of seven people were displaced and that the American Red Cross was called in to help, but the family on stage said everyone is fine. They said the hardest part is realizing they lost everything, including the Christmas presents the two little girls living in the burned house had just unwrapped the day before.

The family started a GoFundMe to raise money after the fire.
