the Cuban presenter Rashel Díaz, Who for twelve years hosted the television program “A New Day” for the Telemundo network, recalled his childhood years in Cuba and how the Christmas celebrations were lived then.
From his Instagram account, Diaz shared a text, accompanying a photo next to his father, where he returned to those times. “When I was little and I lived in Cuba, things weren’t really given away there for Christmas because, it’s no secret to anyone, there was nothing !!” she said.
“The usual thing was on Valentine’s Day to go to a store, make an extensive queue to look for a toy that the government gave you, they weren’t the best but as a child I was always happy with that,” she admitted.
“The first time a toy dazzled me was like when I was 7 or 8 years old, my dad sent me a beautiful baby doll from here (USA), with its rosaditos carxots, 1 tete in my mouth and when l ‘I would take it out, I would cry,’ he said.
“My people, they don’t know how amazing this was for me, I had never seen anything like it. After that I slept with her every day and I loved her for a long time, this has been my best gift in the world. my childhood, today I think about that girl and how it is possible that a simple baby girl was able to make her so happy and I ask God that there have been many children who have a beautiful Christmas, where nothing is missing and can be dazzled by his best gift this year, ”he expressed.
“Your story made me cry, something similar happened to me, and in my beloved Venezuela it continues to happen, children without toys, families without Christmas dinner, distant families. God soon allow my country and yours to see the light of prosperity, ”one user commented.
Diaz she was fired from Telemundo last August. Since 2008 she was part of the founders of the team of the morning program “Un Nou Dia”. The chain had been dismissing staff for some time due to the crisis generated by the coronavirus pandemic.
However, Diaz stated that he would lose his job there I would take it personally as an ending cycle and the great beginning of many dreams he has to conquer. Diaz confessed to his followers on social media that he was ready to receive all that was to come in his life.
On her Instagram account she has been very active with various posts and this Christmas she has also shared pictures with her loved ones.
The Christmas tradition includes giving gifts to children to families. However, it is known that in Cuba toys, in addition to being scarce, have exaggerated prices, to the point that even the pro-government press has criticized this issue.
Earlier this year, images of a Barbie doll were posted for nearly a hundred dollars in a Havana store, A cost of all absurd in a country where the current average salary does not even reach $ 50 per month.
