Samsung reaches a new low, selling fewer smartphones in almost a decade

Samsung, this year, could have hit the lowest shipments in history in nearly a decade, according to reports from South Korea. Apparently, the headset maker has only shipped less than 300 million devices, GizChina reports. Much of the credit goes to the pandemic as well. According to reports, Samsung’s total shipments at the end of the third quarter were about 189.4 million units and total shipments for the year reached 270 million.

While these figures are definitely low, it could be the same with other phone brands, as the pandemic affected almost every brand and business.

But that doesn’t stop the Korean smartphone maker from reappearing in 2021. It is said that the company will bring several 5G smartphones next year. It will also focus heavily on “affordable” folding phones. “Affordable” in this case is likely to refer to the price of the folders now ranging from $ 1,300 to $ 2,000.

TM Roh, president of Samsung Mobile, has recently left a lot of tips on Samsung’s roadmap. Following what we know, Samsung will launch the Samsung Galaxy S21 series at this January event. Interestingly, Roh has also hinted that S Pen support will come in addition to its smartphones and that Samsung intends to expand its arsenal of folding phones with “less expensive” options.

This may also mean that, according to the rumor, the formation of Note could end soon, at least as a premium flagship of the Samsung range. But a separate report indicates that the Note phone line will continue in 2021.
