Increases death toll from coronavirus in Italy

Another 305 people died of coronavirus in Italy on Sunday, the same day the country accompanied its European neighbors in a massive vaccination campaign.

In addition, another 8,913 people tested positive for the disease on the same day, much less than in recent days. However there were fewer tests performed due to the Christmas fair.

Italy is the country in Europe with the most deaths from COVID-19, with 71.925, but experts speculate that the actual figure is much higher due to undetected cases and the lack of diagnostic tests.

On Sunday, Italy began applying the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to the public, primarily to medical workers who have been at the forefront of the fight against the virus.
