While Pokémon Sword i Shield released over a year ago on Nintendo Switch, in 2020 a significant amount of new content was released for the game. He Armor Island i The crown tundra DLC expanded the game in a major way, adding new areas to explore, new story content, and new Pokémon to catch. Some of these Pokémon are the oldest favorites, while others are completely new to the franchise. To celebrate the DLC, Nintendo has released a new trailer for Sword and shield, launching a focus on content that players can find as part of the expansion.

Most games in the main Pokémon franchise have received a “third version” over the years, adding content that was not included in the original version. To Pokémon Sword and Shield, The Pokemon company chose to launch a DLC expansion, so players who already enjoyed the game could continue their adventure with their current team. Armor Island i The crown tundra both have been available for a while, but in the absence of a new Pokémon game this year, it makes sense to see Nintendo still promote the version.
Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of Red and green Pokémonlaunch in 1996. It is logical that the games previously announced as New Pokemon Snap and the sequel to Nintendo Switch Detective Pikachu both could be released next year. It is also possible that the next generation of Pokémon games may also come out. If so, fans are likely to see a full revelation in the coming months. For now, though, fans will simply have to enjoy the content currently available.
Sword and Shield Pokémon is now available, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. You can check out all of our previous game coverage right here.
