URBAN – Local authorities are bringing two more restaurant operators in Champaign County to court after the two restaurants remained open to business after health permits were suspended.

Charles Buck, of Billy Bob’s, 105 E. Broadway St., Ogden, and Jeff Buckler, owner of Lil Bufords, 102 N. Long St., Tolono, were charged with violations of the ordinances to operate without a valid health permit.

The Champaign County Public Health Department suspended the permits for both restaurants after they were allegedly observed serving indoors in violation of a state order.

Interior design in both bars and restaurants is currently banned due to the extension of COVID-19.

Lil Buford’s leave was suspended on December 17 and Billy Bob’s was suspended on December 11.

Buck and Buckler were scheduled to be prosecuted Jan. 21.

By the end of last week, Champaign County public health officials had suspended seven health permits in connection with challenging state order serving inside.
