Ceiling fans sold at Home Depot were remembered because the leaves can be stretched

More than 190,000 ceiling fans sold by Home Depot are remembered because the blades could split while in use, possibly injuring nearby people.

Hampton Bay’s 54-inch Mara Indoor / Outdoor fans sold in stores and online from April to October this year for about $ 150, according to the recall notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission . About 182,000 of the fans were sold in the United States and another 8,800 were sold in Canada, he said.

King of Fans, the product distributor based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, sold exclusively by Home Depot, said it had received 47 reports of the fan blades separating the product, with at least two consumers affected by a blade and four cases of material damage.

The remembered fans arrived in three finishes:

  • matt white (UPC no. 082392519186)
  • matte black (UPC no. 082392519193)
  • black (UPC no. 082392599195)
  • polished nickel UPC number 082392599188).

The CPSC has urged consumers to stop using fans immediately and check them for signs of defect. Those who notice “blade movement or uneven gaps between the blades and the fan body” during the inspection should contact King of Fans for a free replacement.

According to the company, the problem does not affect all fans of 54-inch Mara made in China, which provide a link to a YouTube video that shows consumers how to determine if a fan is defective and needs to be replaced.

Consumers can contact King of Fans for a replacement at (866) 433-1291, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, or email [email protected].
