The President of the Federation of Amateur Baseball of Puerto Rico, José Quiles, received this Tuesday with joy and optimism the appointment of former Olympic athlete Ray Quiñones Vázquez as the new Secretary of the Department of Recreation and Sports (DRD).
“I trust that this appointment will represent a new beginning in relations between the Government of Puerto Rico and the country’s major sports organizations. That we can leave behind four disastrous years of poor execution and poor collaboration,” Quiles said in a written statement. .
“Ray Quiñones Vázquez is a sportsman by birth, with the knowledge, history and experience to lead the DRD. I hope that the new secretary will extend the bridges of communication with the Federations to effectively promote development from sport to communities with joint initiatives, ”Quiles added.
“I am very excited that the DRD is led by an athlete with the knowledge and trajectory of Ray. Despite the difficulties and challenges we face as a country, the picture is promising for the sport.
