A Russian sumo wrestler once christened “the strongest boy in the world,” who weighed 210 pounds when he was just 6, died at age 21, according to a report.
Dzhambulat Khatokhov became a heavyweight when he was 3 years old and shot the star all over the world amid concerns about his health, East2West News reported.
Betal Gubzhev, 29, president of the Sumo and Mass Struggle Federation of Kabardino-Balkaria, the region where Khatokhov lived, announced his death.
The cause was not revealed, but he reportedly suffered from severe kidney problems.
At the age of nine, when he was known as Dzhambik and nicknamed Gladiator by his schoolmates, he weighed about 320 pounds, more than the combined total of four fellow students.
Her mother, Nelya, had rejected reports that she neglected her health.
“He just grows up and out. What can I do about it? That’s how he is, that’s how God created him, “he said.
In 2009, a British doctor warned that the boy’s condition was serious.
“Her weight means she has a very high risk of diabetes, cancer and heart disease,” Dr. Ian Campbell said. “Because he’s so heavy and so young, his life expectancy is likely to be greatly reduced.”
Khatokhov’s first wrestling coach said it was hard to train him.
“I usually run and do gymnastics, but I don’t do full exercises for him,” said Khasan Teusvazhukov, 48. “You can’t do most of this anyway because of your size.
“It simply came to our notice then. The doctors can say that he is fine, but he doesn’t think so and I don’t want to cause him any harm “, he added.
But his mother said Moscow doctors could not find medical problems that would cause his extreme weight.
“We have gone through several exams. All the doctors wanted to find something to explain why Dzhambik is so big, ”he said at the time.
“None of them discovered anything. When I was 5 years old I took him to the clinics in Moscow, where we did all the available tests, organ scans and hormone tests, ”he added.
“But this showed that he was absolutely healthy and that his heart, liver and everything else are proportional to his size. They say he is healthy, so I don’t care. I think he will live a long and happy life,” he said. dir Nelya.
He also firmly denied putting it on steroids.
“It simply came to our notice then. It just got bigger and bigger, up and out. God created it that way, ”he said.
