A new e-commerce virtual store in MLC has come into operation in the town of Caimito, in Artemisa, under the name Mercocaribe.

The ENZONA platform describes it as “a new service for the population” which will be added to the 5356 services it offers.

The store has a wide range of products that can be purchased in the combo variant, and its offer differs markedly from what it offers his criticized partner TuEnvio, From variety to prices.

Cec Montero soft drinks, vegetables, beans, yogurt, meats and ice cream have appeared on the networks with prices above $ 100.00 USD, causing outrage among Cubans who do not understand how they can continue to open such services in this currency when most of its citizens do not have it and are at a disadvantage.

A user identified on Twitter with the account @YandyPDCuba was one who showed his outrage, comparing the work he went through daily to get “syrup for their children’s snack”, while in this store appeared yogurt and soda of domestic manufacture, which has long been not in the markets, but in €.

Another user expressed his astonishment, alleging that “he did not know that in Caimito these products and this currency existed”, alluding to the seemingly outlandish appearance of this store based in this territory.

“And these prices? Where is the phone to report excessive and abusive prices, is food and drink gentlemen non-appliances!”, Referred another user outraged by the high cost of Mercocaribe offers.

Another user identified as Yansell Peral joked that all that was left was to put the wineries in €.

All this continues to contradict what the Cuban economy minister, Alejandro Gil, said when he assured that these stores in MLC were not going to deprive the other stores in CUC / CUP at all.

The shops in CUC have basically been left to supply with many difficulties some basic necessities, such as oil, chicken and detergent.

“Sales in MLC have had very positive results from an economic point of view, there are times when we have a lot of merchandise and there are times when we have been a bit deprived, but overall we have maintained a significant supply despite the pandemic. throughout this period and this has been shown by sales. From this currency is that you can buy other products that are marketed in CUC, “said Kenier Aguiar Ramos, director of the spiritual division of Caribbean Shops in an interview in the newspaper Escambray.

However to these statements, in several stores in MLC as in their peers in CUC and CUP have been reported conditions of deprivation repeated throughout the country.
