Joe Biden raised his eyebrows Tuesday when he accidentally referred to Kamala Harris as “president-elect.”
The true president-elect was commenting on the COVID-19 crisis in Wilmington, Del, when he gave his incoming vice president a massive promotion.
“I hope the president clearly and unequivocally urges all Americans to get the vaccine once it is available,” Biden said.
“I took it to instill confidence in the public in the vaccine. President-elect Harris has taken his for the same reason today, “he continued after Harris received the puncture Tuesday before.
Biden, 78, has been haunted by suggestions that he is experiencing a cognitive decline after a White House career lacking repeated blunders and other cases in which Biden gets confused or sinks with his tongue.
But Tuesday’s press conference where he accidentally referred to Harris as the true commander-in-chief is sure to thrill Biden critics, who say the 56-year-old California senator will be responsible.
On the campaign trail, Biden insisted Harris would be prepared to lead “from day one,” similar to addressing concerns about his advanced age and hinting that he would be a one-term president.
It has become an awkward joke, with the couple repeatedly escaping the Freudian.
During a virtual roundtable in September, Harris, then a vice presidential candidate, referred to the “Harris administration” as he discussed economic plans.
“A Harris administration, along with Joe Biden as president of the United States,” he said before correcting his document.
Several days later, Biden also accidentally referred to his presidential ticket as the “Harris-Biden” campaign.
Conservatives have called Harris a “socialist Trojan horse,” claiming he will push for an ultra-progressive agenda and make Biden his puppet.
This is a characterization that Biden strongly rejected, declaring, “I am the Democratic Party right now” during his first presidential debate with President Trump.
