At the time, Sylvester Stallone went from starring in Rocky’s films to directing them as well. And now his successor, Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther) will do the same with the third installment of Creed, in which he will return to play Adonis Creed, the son of the legendary boxer Apollo, while standing behind the cameras for the first time.
In his book A Life in Movies: Stories From 50 Years in Hollywood, boxing franchise producer Irvin Wenkler already explained that Jordan would have the opportunity to direct a Rocky film. “I promised Michael B. Jordan that he would have the opportunity to direct Believe 3. Last year, in a conversation with our star, I offered to not only star, but also direct,” he wrote.
Now, the co-star of the Rocky spin-off saga, Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok), has confirmed this in a promotional interview for her latest film, Sylvie’s Love, with MTV News. And unless Jordan has some other secret project, Creed’s third installment will be his first film as a director.
The funny thing is that in directing Believe 3, Jordan follows in the footsteps of Stallone, who went after the cameras in all of Rocky’s films except the first until Ryan Coogler took over with the first. delivery of Believe.
For now, details are unknown about the upcoming film by Adonis Creed, who in his predecessor faced the son of Ivan Drago, Rocky’s eternal enemy played by Dolph Lundgren. Similarly, no release date or start of shooting for the film has yet been announced.
