Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gamers have been experiencing major issues with locks on Xbox Series X, but it looks like a poster on Reddit could have figured out a solution. According to the EmadBella user, locks can be predicted through frame rate problems that start at the beginning of a game, plus the control panel does not work. Depending on the poster, players can prevent the game from crashing by pressing the controller start button until the system shutdown message appears. Players must then press the “B” button to return to the game, and then notice that the frame rate and rumble issues have returned to normal. As a result, no crashes will occur.

In comments on the post, several users agreed that this tactic seemed to fix the problem and prevent the game from crashing. The whole “repair” should take a few seconds at most, and at the very least, it’s worth trying it out for anyone who starts having problems when a game starts. Viously, obviously, this is not yet an ideal solution and players should not go through these efforts, but until Activision and Treyarch reach a permanent solution, it can be an important help. To his credit, Treyarch is well aware of the game-related issues in the Xbox Series X hardware and seems to be working hard to fix it.
The locks on the Xbox X series have been well publicized since the game’s release in November. A Reddit poster claimed that the problem was so serious that it actually broke the Xbox Series X console. If this fix works as well as the posters say it does, it could be a big encouragement for gamers worried about having to go back to send your systems to Microsoft for repair.
