A California philanthropist has been charged with homicide by a crash last September that left two young brothers dead. CBS Los Angeles reports that Rebecca Grossman, 57, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in a Los Angeles County courtroom in Van Nuys to two counts each of felony homicide and vehicular homicide with gross negligence, along with a count of hit-and-run driving that caused the death.
His bail was set at $ 2 million. If convicted as a defendant, she faces up to 34 years in prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

On the night of Sept. 29, eleven-year-old Mark and Jacob Iskander were on a crosswalk at the intersection of Triumph Canyon Road and Saddle Mountain Drive when they were hit and killed by a Mercedes at full speed while they were walking with their family. .
Investigators for the Los Angeles County Sheriff say the driver, Grossman, left quickly.
His white Mercedes, which suffered damage to the front, stopped about a mile from the scene of the accident after the engine broke down, prosecutors allege.
Grossman is a co-founder and president of the Grossman Burn Foundation, the wife of the foundation’s president. He has received awards and acclaim for his philanthropy around the world.
The sheriff’s department told CBS Los Angeles on Monday that the driving portion of the intoxication of the case is still being investigated and that investigators are still awaiting the results of the toxicology. He could face other charges once these results arrive.
The next court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 16.
