Wanda Vázquez Garced grants conditional pardon to Ashley Marie Torres Feliciano

Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced today accepted the pardon order of Ashley Marie Torres Feliciano, the young mother, a victim of domestic violence, who was sentenced to 111 years, after being convicted as a co-perpetrator of a murder.

The information was confirmed at The New Day by sources. The Fortress has not yet been confirmed.

The granting of pardon to by the rulers is under Article 4 of the Constitution of Puerto Rico. They may, through this power, suspend the execution of sentences in criminal cases, pardon, commute sentences and pardon in whole or in part fines and confiscations for crimes committed in violation of the law.

Torres Feliciano will be granted a conditional pardon, which means he must meet certain conditions after his release from prison.

The inmate is currently 28 years old and is in the Bayamón Correctional Complex. The New Day learned that Torres Feliciano would be released next Monday, January 4th.

On December 23, the governor and lawyer Julio Fontanet met in La Fortalesa to discuss the case. “Meeting with Lic. Julio Fontanet of the Innocence Project regarding several cases. Truth and justice have always been my north,” the outgoing president posted on the social network Twitter.

The inmate is currently 28 years old and is in the Bayamón Correctional Complex. The clemency order is the latest attempt by Torres Feliciano, who has denied being a co-perpetrator, to get out of prison.

The facts go back to February 21, 2009 when in the middle of a family activity, her partner and parent of her son, Steven QUIRINDONGO, beat her on several occasions, as part of a pattern of violence. Her siblings, upon learning of what has happened, confront the assailant and the fight that led to the death of Ashley’s brother, Nelson Torres Feliciano, is generated.
