Actor Marcus D’Amico, remembered by fans for playing Superman 2 in the child who asks General Zod to forgive his father, has died at the age of 55 at home in England, Europe has reported Press.
D’Amico, who also starred in the cult series Stories of St. Francis, died Dec. 16 from pneumonia, Variety reports. His credits as an actor also included minor roles in Stanley Kubrick’s The Metal Jacket, and The Alienist, a TNT series.
“Not only have I lost my beautiful brother, but the world has lost an incredibly talented actor and director. Words can’t express how strange it is,” the performer’s sister, Melissa D’Amico, wrote in Social Networks.
D’Amico was born on December 4, 1965 in Frankfurt, Germany, but soon moved to the United Kingdom. During his long career, which began as a child in Superman 2, he was nominated for Best Actor at the Oliver Awards for his participation in the play Angels in America. He also won a Theater World Award in 1995 for his performance An Inspector Calls.
