It’s New Year’s Eve Times Square like you’ve never seen before.
The Crossroads of the World became a mysterious ghost town on Thursday as officials closed the area to partygoers due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
When the last hours of 2020 disappeared, the NYPD blocked public access to the place known worldwide for its festive New Year’s Eve celebrations.
A live video feed from the Reuters area showed only a handful of people dying, instead of the thousands who gather to watch the ball fall at midnight.
For the first time in 114 years, the spectacular New Year’s Eve in Times Square will be held without a live audience.
Instead, there will be a TV show from the venue for home viewers a star-studded celebration featuring performances by Jennifer Lopez, Cyndi Lauper and others.
