According to a Wisconsin health system, 500 doses of coronavirus vaccine that were to be discarded after leaving them unrefrigerated appear to have been deliberately spoiled by an employee.
Aurora Medical Center first reported the damaged doses on Saturday and said it had been accidentally abandoned overnight by an Aurora Medical Center employee in Grafton.
In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, Aurora said the employee involved “has acknowledged today that he intentionally removed the vaccine from the refrigerator.”
Aurora’s statement says they fired the employee and referred the matter to authorities for further investigation.
His statement did not address a possible motive for the action and health system officials did not immediately respond to the messages.
