Once again, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio demonstrate their ineptitude as New York leaders, all talking and little action.
According to a Bloomberg News analysis, New York State has only administered 32% of the vaccines provided. In New York City, it’s even worse: 25.4 percent.
On Thursday, de Blasio promised 1 million vaccines for New Yorkers in the coming months. What have you been doing for the past two weeks?
Unfortunately, this is not just a local problem: though
12.4 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been distributed nationwide, with only 3.1 million. But that doesn’t absolve New York officials, especially when Cuomo has considered himself the quintessential coronavirus king, even writing a book praising his own leadership.
Why are there no mass vaccination events? Where is the urgency?
Cuomo and de Blasio are thinking about equality, and now New Yorkers are learning what that means: to ensure that the vaccine is distributed fairly and equitably, no one should have it.
