Scenic quarantine protest parade of Philadelphia clowns

A small group of dissident Philadelphia clowns and their supporters gathered to protest the cancellation of the annual parade due to public health issues. The annual Mummers Parade, which has been held on New Year’s Day in Philadelphia for more than a century, often sees musicians and performers dressed in bright, extravagant costumes parade through the city performing string band music. After Mayor Jim Kenney canceled the parade due to the coronavirus pandemic, some artists gathered in disguise in protest. City officials issued leaflets ahead of the long-awaited protest to remind residents that the parade had been canceled and to stay home, but dissident momers ignored the directive.
