Trump bizarrely declares Georgia’s runoff “illegal and invalid”

President Trump is trying to convince his supporters that special Senate elections in Georgia are “illegal and invalid” because of a strange election conspiracy theory, a move that could mean trouble for the two Republicans hoping to win the re-election on January 5th. In a series of tweets last Friday, Trump falsely claimed that state legislatures “were in no way responsible for the massive changes made to the voting process” and that therefore the special elections for the two seats in the Georgia Senate do not they are valid. Republicans have expressed concern about Trump’s constant attacks on the Republican governor and secretary of state of Georgia, conspiracy theories against election fraud, and disputes with Republicans in Congress that will depress Conservative voter participation in a special election that could determine control of the senate.
