Tennessee health workers accused of withdrawing aspirants for the elderly vaccine to give doses to friends

People over the age of 75 lined up for hours in Tennessee to get a chance at a COVID-19 vaccine only to find out that staff distributing the inoculations were giving doses to friends and family after telling hundreds they had waited for hours that no more shots were available. . WRCB-TV reporters learned that staff at the Tennessee Riverpark Vaccination Center had called family and friends and told them the vaccines were still available after the facility removed potential patients. Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger said the incident was the result of a “miscalculation,” in which officials found they only had more doses available after diverting patients and tried make use of it quickly before the vaccine is thawed and damaged.
