All of this is wild, inaccurate, and I’m here for it
Yu Suzuki will always be a legend for what he managed to craft with him Shenmue series. But many people forget that it was one of the main types of Sega AM2, which produced hits like now After Burner i Space Harrier; which appeared in Shenmue years later as arcade games.
He is now over 60 years old and seems to still have as much passion for the industry as he did in the 1980s: the long road to Shenmue III is proof of that. So what will happen next after that resurgence? Well, hopefully more Shenmue so we can actually see the story. After all, more than 20 years have passed.
As for the immediate future, though, things can get a little extravagant in his studio, Ys Net. He recently caught up with Famitsu to vaguely provoke what was to come in 2021 and his keywords were “shoot / RPG”. Okay … I can keep up.
He later shared his ambitions for 2021, which are to “reflect on head-to-head battles” and the phrase “sequel”. So the sequel is probably Shenmue IV, but I wonder if the “shoot” portion is that Suzuki is bothered by the actual battle error.
Either way, apparently there are plans, i Shenmue III did not fail in the studio (Suzuki said its performance was “good” earlier this year). I look forward to what we see below.
