The U.S. Coast Guard announced Friday that it has suspended the search for a missing ship carrying about 20 people traveling from the Bahamas to South Florida.
The blue-and-white 29-foot Mako Cuddy Cabin left Bimini, Bahamas, on Monday, but did not reach its destination in Lake Worth, Florida, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
Officials received information about the ship’s disappearance on Tuesday, prompting an extensive search by the Coast Guard, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and the Bahamas Airborne Maritime Rescue Association.
The 84-hour search covered approximately 17,000 square miles between the Bahamas and Florida, the agency said.
The Coast Guard has not identified any of the passengers.
