Abinader arrives in Puerto Rico to take over the new governor

President Luis Abinader arrived a few minutes ago in Puerto Rico, where he will take part in the inauguration of the new governor of the island, Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia.

Abinader left the country at 8:30 a.m. on a private flight through San Isidro Air Base and was fired by Vice President Raquel Penya, and other civilian and military officials.

The president is accompanied by the administrative minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Pallissa, and the chancellor Roberto Álvarez. It is the president’s first trip abroad, after taking over the country on August 16.

The head of state and his entourage are scheduled to be received at the Capitol at 9:35 p.m.

At 10 a.m. he will hold a meeting with Pierluisi, For half an hour then start the inauguration ceremony.

This event will consist of a parade of colors, interpretation of official hymns, religious invocation of place, presentation of special guests, oath of governor, speech by the governor and the corresponding military honors.

At noon the ceremony will end. At 12:30 p.m., Abinader and his commission are expected to be on board a plane, At the airport Fernando Luis Rivas Dominicci, to return to the country.

The Head of State’s involvement in Pierluisi’s inauguration was announced earlier this week.
