4-year-old boy killed in car crash in U.S. 23 in Livingston County

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Michigan (WXYZ) – A four-year-old girl from North Carolina died Friday in a car accident while traveling with her family.

On Friday, Jan. 1, around 11 p.m., deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to U.S. 23, heading north, south of Highland Road, in connection with a vehicle accident. with possible injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 36-year-old father from Fayetteville, North Carolina, was operating a 2006 Ford Expedition heading north when he lost control of the vehicle, causing him to leave the roadway and hit several trees. The wife of the 33-year-old man, the eight-year-old son and the four-year-old daughter were in the vehicle at the time of the accident, deputies say.

During the accident, the 4-year-old driver’s daughter was kicked out of the vehicle and succumbed to injuries on the spot. Police say the rest of the vehicle’s occupants were removed by Hartland Deerfield Fire Authority personnel and taken to the University of Michigan Hospital for injury treatment.

Speed ​​and alcohol appear to be the factors in the crash, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
