Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson is the first NFL quarterback to run 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons and defense that is the best dual threat in league history.
With his incredible speed and elusive jaw drop, Jackson reached 1,000 yards with a 7-yard fight in the third quarter Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. The current NFL MVP entered Sunday’s game needing 92 yards of rushing to reach the milestone.
Jackson is about to become the second quarterback to win an NFL MVP and reach the playoffs in his first three seasons in the league, joining Dan Marino. The Ravens can get a winning wild card robber in Cincinnati.
The only other quarterback to exceed 1,000 running yards in a season was Michael Vick in 2006. Jackson has eclipsed 1,000 running yards in two of his first three NFL seasons, setting a quarterbacks one-season record. last season with 1,206 yards.
For the quarterbacks, the publication of big consecutive seasons had proved difficult to use. Prior to Jackson, the previous two quarterbacks ran more than 900 yards in one season (Randall Cunningham and Vick) recorded less than 600 running yards the following season.
Jackson’s career has propelled Baltimore’s career into the postseason. By winning four straight games coming in on Sunday, Jackson averaged 83.2 yards running.
