Change the release title Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to release interesting secrets still today and Twitter user EHEYimHeroic just unearthed another: the game’s NPCs use an updated version of the Mii face creation tool that first appeared when the Wii was released in 2006.
It makes sense for Nintendo to use an existing tool to streamline the character creation process for the game, but it’s still a bit surprising that a system created 15 years ago is still used in Nintendo’s AAA software.
It’s also interesting because it means that hackers who are separating the game from the computer (by emulation) can “inject” new faces into the game now that they understand how those faces are created. Expect to see some famous faces coming in modified versions of Breath of the Wild soon, then.
