Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto will receive $ 54,364 for settlement

Upon leaving the city hall, the mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto, will receive $ 54,364 corresponding to the settlement of the days accumulated in both his regular leave (vacation) and sick leave and an excess of days accumulated in his regular license, as announced in a message via Twitter.

He believes he is accompanying the message with a photo of the document, which is a certification from the Municipality of Sant Joan of balance sheets of licenses to be paid for service separation.

The popular leader has said she disclosed the sum of her liquidation before any city official leaked the “document as if it were something illegal.”

“Those officials who receive the settlement are getting what they deserve by law. No one is stealing anything,” the former city executive commented. “You can object to the liquidation, but it is the law and no one who receives your liquidation is committing an illegal act,” he added.

According to the document, the former mayor, who had a monthly salary of $ 10,416, accrued 60 days on regular leave (of untaken vacation) which equates to a settlement of $ 32,692.

Also, Cruz, who held the position for the past eight years, accumulated 30 days of sick leave so he would have a balance of $ 14,302.

The document also states that he has 14 days in excess of his regular license so, according to the document, he would be entitled to the payment of $ 7,369.

The outgoing mayor resigned on December 31, days before the new mayor Miguel Romero was sworn in.

Cruz did not aspire to re-election for mayor, but went to the Democratic People’s Party (PPD) primaries in an attempt to become his candidate for governor. Nevertheless, the mayor of Isabela Carlos Delgado Altieri gained the primary one of his party, although later he lost the government in the general elections.
