Healthcare personnel today receive a second dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Multiple health professionals in Puerto Rico are preparing today to receive the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine after the stipulated 21 days from the first inoculation.

As reported by Noticentro, several hospitals will be administered today the second dose of this vaccine that initially arrived in Puerto Rico on December 15.

One of the hospitals that already started the process was Ashford in County, where respiratory therapist Yahaira Alicea, who treated the first case of COVID and also received the first vaccine, has already applied the second dose.

As she told the news media in the last 21 days she has had no reaction and feels confident of being immunized against the virus.

The prolonged vaccination process in nursing homes began yesterday in a concerted effort with pharmacy chains Walgreens and CVS. The first to receive it was a home in Rio Pedres.

Noticentro reported that between 11 and 16 January Health personnel would travel to Vieques and Culebra to vaccinate health professionals in these municipalities

In Puerto Rico, 90,000 vaccines have been received and about 70,000 doses have been administered.

The CESCO will be closed today, appointments to citizens were canceled
