Alex Morgan and his family test positive for COVID-19; he says he became infected during a vacation in California

The striker of the American women’s soccer team, Alex Morgan, tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed the player herself through social media.

“Unfortunately, my family and I closed 2020 knowing we had contracted coronavirus while we were in California during the holidays,” Morgan, a Southern California native, posted.

“We are all in a good mood and recovering well. Once our isolation is complete, I will follow the protocols to join the National Team,” he added.

The United States will announce the list for its annual training camp in January on Wednesday.

Morgan, 31, spent the last half of 2020 with WSL’s Tottenham Hotspur before announcing last month that he would return to Orlando Pride in 2021.
