The fifth time was not a charm for former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward. The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the finalists for the 2021 class, and Ward was wasted … once again.
During Hines’ 14-year career in Pittsburgh, he was voted for four Pro Bowls and helped the Steelers win two Super Bowls. Ward was named MVP of the 2006 Super Bowl, a rare honor for a wide receiver. He finished his career with 1,000 receptions, 12,083 yards and 85 touchdowns.
The 15 finalists of the modern era, including former Steelers guard Alan Faneca, will be reduced to a maximum of five entrants and announced during the annual NFL Honors broadcast on Saturday, February 6th.
Bill Cowher and former insurers Troy Polamalu and Donnie Shell are awaiting their entry into the Hall, which was postponed due to the pandemic. The 2020 Centennial Class and the 2021 Class will kick off in separate ceremonies over a weekend with stars that HOF has coined “Double the Fun on the 21st”.
