IN CASE DEFINITIVE ARCHIVE – Julio César Valentín will be interrogated today in Odebrecht case

The Public Ministry will continue this Wednesday the interrogation process of the eight involved in the Odebrecht case, who were favored with the final file.

For today, the Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca) and the Prosecution Directorate of the Public Ministry summoned the ex-senator Julio César Valentín, at 2:00 pm, while Radhamés Segura was required for tomorrow Thursday at 3:00 p.m.

They are expected to be questioned over the next week by Wilson Camacho, head of Pepca; and Yeni Berenice Reynoso, Prosecution Director of the Public Ministry, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; Rudy González, César Sánchez, Bernardo Castellanos and Màxim de Oli.

Around the case was questioned on December 4, 2020, the president of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Juan Temístocles Montás.

The final file in favor of eight of those involved in the Odebrecht case came a year and three months after the then Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez, issued the act of the provisional file in favor of the inserts.

The ex-prosecutor on June 7, 2018 informed the country about the provisional file in favor of the investigated, but, on September 27, 2019, issued an interlocutory of the final file in favor of the 8 defendants, after considering that did not find sufficient evidence to indicate his involvement in the case.

However, the decision issued by the then attorney Alain Rodriguez, was appealed in opposition by the Citizen Alliance Foundation.

The case was known to José Alejandro Vargas, who served as the judge of the first court of instruction of the National District, because its head Kenya Perez Santana, was inhibited from knowing the process alleging friendship with a of those involved.

Judge Vargas, after hearing the appeal of opposition to the final file in favor of eight of those investigated in the corruption scandal for the $ 92 million in bribes that the company Odebrecht admitted to having paid to the country, decided announce the decision on December 14.
