“It will fall directly on President Trump’s shoulders and his actions from Nov. 3,” Sterling, a Republican, told CNN’s Amara Walker.

“When you tell people, your vote doesn’t count and it’s been stolen, and people start believing it, then go to the two senators and ask the secretary of state to resign and start a civil war in the Republican party needs to unite, all this is due to their decision-making since the November 3 elections, “he continued.

Sterling has been one of Trump’s fiercest Republican critics in Peach state, often challenging the president’s unfounded claims of widespread fraud to voters.

Georgia’s lieutenant governor, Geoff Duncan (R), also expressed concern about the impact Trump’s claims could have on GOP participation. explaining to ABC News Tuesday that worries him “absolutely” that the president’s comments could depress party participation in the second round.

“Unfortunately, too many people in our party over the last two months have been talking about misinformation, election fraud and creating distraction,” Duncan said.

On Monday, Sterling promptly dismissed several allegations of electoral fraud by Trump voters during a press conference and urged voters to have confidence in the state’s electoral process.

“Given the nature of the statements of the president and several other people who have been aligned with him previously … we are asking you specifically and we are saying, Please come and vote tomorrow,” he said.

Sterling’s comments followed the release of the audio of a call with Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R), in which the president told Raffensperger to “find” more votes in the presidential elections to turn the state in their favor. Biden became the first Democratic presidential candidate in decades to win Georgia, giving Democrats hope for both runoffs.
