Juan Hernández Ramírez, ex mayor of Aquila, Michoacán, was shot dead by a commando at his home, located in the community of Maruata.
Police sources detailed that a son of the former mayor also died during the attack; while two people were injured, who have not been identified.
After the assault, the bodies were taken to the Forensic Medical Service, while the injured are being treated at a hospital in the coastal region of Michoacán.
Meanwhile, the Michoacán Prosecutor’s Office began investigations to delineate responsibilities for the attack on the former mayor of Aquila.
The state government lamented the assassination of the former mayor and stated that the crime will not go unpunished.
