Lashanna Lynch in the latest conversations to star in Miss Honey in Matilda’s musical for Netflix
While fans are still waiting to see Lashanna Lynch and Daniel Craig in the new James Bond film No Time To Die, Lynch has found her next role.
The 33-year-old actress is in final talks to star in Netflix’s musical film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Matilda, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The production has yet to find the young actress to play the title character at this time and there are no clues as to when filming may begin.

The musical follows an early 5-year-old girl who discovers she has telekinetic powers, which she uses to protect her friends and turn the bullies around.
Lynch is playing Miss Honey, described as a “kind teacher who encourages Matilda and her gifts.”
Although Matilda has not yet been cast, Ralph Fiennes teamed up to play Mrs. Trunchbull, continuing the tradition of the male characters representing the director.

The character was portrayed by a woman in the 1996 film adaptation, with Pam Ferris taking on the role, but the musical always featured a male actor like Trunchbull, including Bertie Cavell, Bryce Ryness, Craige Els, with Craig Bierko even in the role of replacement on Broadway.
The role of Miss Honey also represents a significant change, with the role of white women.
Embeth Davidtz played the teacher in the 1996 film adaptation, starring Lauren Ward, Jennifer Bowles and Carly Thoms in the stage musical.

The Netflix musical will be directed by Matthew Warchus, who was in charge of the stage musical.
It will work from an adapted screenplay by original stage musical playwright Dennis Kelly, and Tim Minchin will once again provide original music and lyrics.
The stage musical debuted with a 12-week rehearsal at the Royal Shakespeare Company in November 2010, ahead of its West End debut in November 2011 and its Broadway debut in April 2013.
